A press pass makes you cool

My first sports press conference with KU men’s basketball coach, Bill Self. That XL camera is an intimidating piece of machinary. I was worried the whole time that we weren’t getting the audio recorded.
KUJH-TV Sports Director, Adam Sechrist was out of town this week covering KU’s game in the Fort Worth Bowl, so I volunteered to cover the men’s basketball game against Northern Colorado.
It was my first sports press conference, and my first experience working with the XL camera on my own. Scary, yes. But I think we did well. We? Oh yeah, I drug my partner-in-crime, Anton with me…made him carry the big camera bag. Hey, don’t feel bad for him, he got a free pass to the game.
I have to admit, it was fun having a media pass. There is a certain level of authority that comes with it. People don’t question you, and fans want to slap your hand (well, maybe not, but they thought we were with the team when we walked down the “tunnel” after the game).
