iChatting with my sister, Roo. She’s in a coffee shop in China, I’m in front of a Powerbook in Eudora, Kans.
I was at my mom’s and we called my sister to wish her a Merry Christmas. But it really isn’t any fun talking to someone when you can’t see them, so, we decided to whip out the webcam and start-up a little iChat. After about an hour’s worth of futzing with cables, cable modems, WAPs and other misc. technology, we finally got connected.
My sister, Roo, is currently living in Beijing. Before she left in August, I insisted on “hooking” her up with some Apple gear – an iBook and an iSight. Glad I did. (My endorsement for Apple). We ended up chatting for almost an hour.
I love iChat with video. It’s amazing to talk with my sister, who’s a gazillion miles away at a coffee shop in China, while I’m sitting on my arse in my mom’s home office in front of a tiny computer screen. I love technology.
