I’m a Web 2.0 whore
25-Sep-07
*sigh* I said I wasn’t going to do it.
But I did.
I “compromised (my) principles for personal gain.” And according to the American Heritage Dictionary definition, number three, that makes me a whore.
You could say I’m addicted.
I don’t need yet another profile that I feel obligated to update.
You could say that I’m a narcissist.
My Flickr “Staci” tag cloud proves that. Also, I find myself using my MacBook’s built-in camera to update my IM picture almost hourly (to capture my current mood). And I occasionally Twitter.
But the truth is, I’m really creating all these profiles and constantly updating my “status” all in the name of “research.”
Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn… and now Squidoo.
I can’t stop. I need to know how these social apps work. I need to make connections and network with others like me.
I need these sites for personal and selfish reasons. Thank you Web 2.0 for creating a world where I can connect, share and collaborate. Weblogs, social bookmarking, wikis, podcasts, RSS feeds…whatever did I do before you?
