Wanna know who’s Twittering?
Twitter isn’t for everyone. But if you work in the media, marketing or PR you really should be paying attention and experimenting with the power of 140 characters.
After reading a recent NYTimes article, Twittering Celebrities Take Fans Backstage in Their Lives, which linked to Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore’s Twitter accounts, I started clicking…I browsed mrskutcher’s TwitPics (Hey! Ashton and Demi were in San Francisco a couple weeks ago.) Of course I checked out who they were following… and then, I decided to Twitter Demi’s TwitPics. In less than 20 minutes I had more than 1,200 clicks and gained more than 30 followers.
It was fun to watch my Tweet “Demi Moore uses TwitPics. No kidding, check it out! http://twitclicks.com/p0sr” retweeted 100 times over.
Fascinating.
If celebs are providing content directly to their fans they’re effectively cutting out the middle man. Could this kill business for the paparazzi? Or will it just make it easier for them to get their candids? Surfing the interweb for celeb pics is probably a lot safer than climbing trees.
Two lessons learned here: 1). Twitter works, 2). Content is king. Post compelling content and the people will click. (And for the record, I don’t think it always has to be celebrity-related content.)
Here’s a list of some of the famous peeps I have spotted on Twitter. There’s a more complete list of celebrity Twitterers on HubPages. Remember, celebrities are people too. Enjoy!
