Coordinate with production and marketing services to gather assets and content for websites. Provide creative direction to online agencies throughout the development process. Work closely with Lucasfilm Online to ensure a smooth integration of websites into the Lucas infrastructure. Liaison and support Activision Online in the localization and hosting of LEC websites.

E.W. Scripps Newspaper Interactive Entrepreneurial Fund

Coordinated, traced, researched and assisted with the implementation and execution of rapid-development innovation projects and new business efforts emerging in E.W. Scripps newspaper markets. Helped developed, designed, launched and adjusted these startup businesses, gauge and measure the progress of the projects once they were under way. Worked closely with individual newspapers and/or startup managers as well as with team members in operations, technology, marketing, advertising, research and finance.

Helped design and build the Tennessee Journalist web site for the University of Tennessee Department of Journalism and Electronic Media. I collaborated with local programmer Johnny Dobbins. We worked for and with Professor James Stovall.

Worked with Newsroom Director and General Manager to plan, design and develop TV web site. Coordinated programmers, designers and online producers to build content management system and create daily content for television web site.

Freelance work

Coordinated development of functional design specifications, and project resources as a freelance project manager. Prepared budget estimates and timelines. Scheduled and led team reviews, testing and client presentations. Recruited designers, copywriters, site builders, and developers to build the project team. Served as a primary point of contact between clients and the team.

KUJH-TV News wins 10 regional Mark of Excellence Awards

The online package, Fire destroys apartment, cause unknown, placed as a finalist in the Society of Professional Journalists 2005 Mark of Excellence National Awards for online news reporting.

A fire that started early the morning of Oct. 7 at Boardwalk Apartments, near 6th and Kasold, killed three residents. Jason Allen Rose, a 20-year-old Lawrence resident, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson in relation with the fire. Rose’s preliminary hearing was Feb. 22, 2006.

KUJH-TV News covered the story beginning with TV reporter and producer, Adam Sechrist and I on-site in the early morning hours as firefighters battled the blaze. Photographer Rylan Howe and TV reporter Jimmy Chavez were also with us. Rylan took photos for the Kansan, and Jimmy provide technical and moral support to Adam and the Canon XL. We got the story online sometime around 4:30 a.m., complete with video and a sound bite. Brian Wacker, one of our online producers, discovered a friend who had also been on scene and recorded a little video of his own. We included it in the opening segment of the newscast and linked the entire video from the story online. Later that day, I added a Google map and a photo slideshow of some citizen-contributed photos. I’m really proud of our KUJH-TV News team coverage and the resulting package.
